Featured Nurse Leader Awards

Lifetime Achievement
AONE’s highest and most prestigious award given to an AONE member who is recognized by the broader nursing community as a significant leader in the nursing profession. The nominee has served AONE and the nursing profession in a significant leadership capacity, demonstrating the qualities of leadership and service to the nursing profession by his/her professional and personal example.

Honorary Member
Recognizes a person who has made a noteworthy contribution to the healthcare field and to nursing leadership practice. The nominee has a commitment to nursing leadership practice and supports AONE’s mission through his/her work, research or service to the health care community at large. The nominee does not need to be an AONE member or a nurse.

Pam Thompson Early Careerist
Recognizes an AONE or AONE Foundation program alumnus who has five to ten years’ experience as a nurse in a leadership position and is an exemplary leader within his or her organization, community and the nursing profession. The nominee exhibits significant potential as a future health care leader and role model to other early careerists.

AONE Mentor
Recognizes a nurse in executive practice who has been exemplary in supporting the professional development of his or her colleagues by serving as a mentor or advisor.

AONE Prism Diversity
Recognizes an individual who has advanced diversity efforts within the nursing profession, the community or individual’s organization. The individual is a leader in supporting the AONE Guiding Principles for Diversity in Health Care Organizations and demonstrates the mastery of the AONE Nurse Executive Competencies – communication and relationship building and diversity.

AONE Affiliate Achievement
Recognizes an AONE Affiliate that promotes nursing leadership and its influence in the areas of the advancement of nursing practice, patient safety and quality, recruitment and retention, or another priority initiative for that particular state/region, and can serve as a model for other states or regions with similar interests.
