Joining Forces Resources

Joining Forces is a national initiative that mobilizes all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned.

AONE partners in Joining Forces campaign
AONE and hundreds of nursing schools and organizations have recently partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs to help educate nurses to meet the unique health needs of service members and their families. The Joining Forces campaign, announced this week by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, calls on health professionals to be aware of the specific health issues facing more than one million service members who are projected to leave the military within the next five years with the end of the war in Iraq and the drawdown in Afghanistan. “AONE is proud to join the First Lady and Dr. Biden in this historic effort on behalf of veterans and their families,” said AONE 2012 Board of Directors president, Laura Caramanica, RN, PhD, CENP, FACHE. “Nursing’s commitment and leadership will ensure that high quality care and access to treatment will be part of every community.” AONE members are encouraged to pledge their individual support by visiting the campaign website at www.aone.org/joiningforces.
