Brush off those old pom-poms! We need cheerleaders for AONE’s newest member recruitment program. Our goal is to grow the AONE membership to 10,000 members by 2010. We realize that is no small task, and that’s why we need your assistance in spreading the word about the many benefits of AONE membership. Remember the stronger the membership, the louder our collective voice will be for nursing leadership.

Rules and Eligibility
Any active AONE member may become an AONE Membership Ambassador. As an Ambassador, your mission – should you choose to accept it – is to help the AONE membership grow by sharing the many benefits of membership with your peers and colleagues. When reaching out to prospects, we suggest that you re-purpose the sample letter and then follow up via telephone or in a face-to-face meeting.
Prospective members can then apply for AONE membership online or download the AONE membership application and submit payment. In the online membership application, the section marked “referred by” should include the referring Ambassador’s name, city, and state. After our staff has reviewed and processed the application, the Ambassador will receive credit for recruiting the new member, receive written confirmation from our membership department, and will then be entered in a quarterly drawing (see Prizes section below).
Please note that all prospective members must meet AONE’s membership eligibility requirements.
If your facility is sponsoring an AONE Group Membership, AONE will count every five new members in the program towards recruiting one member. Since it is easier to recruit a group than individual members, AONE wishes to make this a fair campaign.

Who can participate in AONE’s Membership Ambassador Program?
Any active AONE member can participate in this program as long as their dues are current.
How do I know if my friend or colleague is already a member?
Log onto the AONE member directory to verify if your associate is an AONE member. You may also contact our membership department at 312-422-2800, and our staff will be happy to find that information for you.
What if the member I recruit was previously an AONE member?
As long as that person is not a current AONE member, that person can be recruited.
Are individuals outside of the United States eligible to be recruited?
Yes. Any nurse leader outside of the United States is eligible to be recruited as long as they meet AONE’s criteria. This person must be recognized in his/her country as legally able to practice nursing and have a degree or equivalent in that field.
What if the person I recruit forgets to put my name in the “referred by” space on the membership application?
No problem. If you do not receive written confirmation from AONE within 2-4 weeks, contact the AONE membership department and provide the following information: the new member’s name, city and state, as well as your AONE member number. Once we verify that this prospect has joined, AONE will then place your name in the next quarterly prize drawing.
Prizes and Recognition
Each time an AONE Ambassador recruits a member, his/her name will go into a quarterly prize drawing. AONE will then randomly select and announce four (4) Ambassadors who will each receive one (1) $100 American Express Gift Card. Ambassadors are not limited in how many new members they may recruit.
AONE will recognize AONE Ambassadors in our various print and online publications, as well as at the 2009 Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Antonio, Texas.
