Recognizing the widespread, expressed need for nurse manager leadership development, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), and the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) has formed an alliance - the Nurse Manager Leadership Collaborative (NMLC) - to direct their combined knowledge, expertise and resources toward effectively fulfilling this need.
The NMLC Learning Domain Framework is the Collaborative’s view of nurse manager leadership development. The Nurse Manager Inventory Tool is a foundational component of a comprehensive initiative of the NMLC to assist nurse managers in achieving their development goals throughout their careers.
A program is currently under development to provide for just-in-time, standardized nurse manager orientation.
