	Introduction to the Guiding Principles AONE received a Nurse Competence in Aging grant from ANA/SNAPG for the purpose of developing guiding principles to assist hospitals in creating “elder friendly” environments. This work was accomplished through two “days of dialogue”, one held in 2004 and the second in 2005.  Participants included AONE members, staff nurses, physicians, and members of the Hartford Foundation. “The Guiding Principles for Creating Elder Friendly Hospitals” and the suggested initiatives for creation of Elder-Friendly healthcare environments, is the outcome of that grant supported work.     The Principles      Suggested Initiatives to Guide
