| Innovation |
Implemented practitioner remediation and enhancement project, PREP to address errors and practice issues in a proactive, non-disciplinary way. PREP is designed to assess individual practice issues related to errors or competencies. When remedial education is warranted, the nurse is included in developing the plan. |
| Outcome |
Improve patient safety through early intervention and better communication between hospitals and regulatory boards. PREP has created a forum where hospital and Board staff can talk openly about individual errors, identify systems issues, and problem solve together. The nurse, employer, and Board come together as partners to address practice issues in a respectful and productive way.
