Chicago, IL (January 29, 2010) - The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) has opened registration for the Nurse Executives Delegation to India, scheduled for September 12-20, 2010. In conjunction with People to People Citizen Ambassador Programs, this delegation—specializing in nursing administration—has been developed to foster one-on-one dialogue with international counterparts and to continue the tradition of professional diplomacy created by President Eisenhower in 1956. In recent years, AONE has partnered with People to People to bring nurse delegates to several countries including Russia, China and South Africa.

Nurse leaders throughout the world are faced with multiple challenges in their daily practice. The goal of this international exchange between U.S. and Indian nurse leaders is to create creative solutions to complex problems such as health care reform, nursing shortages, diversity, and coverage and access. In addition to visiting various clinical settings in Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, nurse delegates and guests will also experience the rich history and culture of Indian life.

“I am excited to co-lead the nurse executives delegation to India this fall as part of People to People’s Citizen Ambassador Program. This trip will create an important dialogue between U.S. and Indian nurse leaders and also continue to build upon international alliances AONE has created in past programs.” said AONE board president and delegate co-leader Pamela T. Rudisill, MSN, RN, MEd. Also joining Rudisill as delegate co-leader is AONE chief executive officer, Pamela A. Thompson, MS, RN, FAAN, CENP.

This program is co-provided with the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing for continuing education credit. Delegates may earn up to 12.5 contact hours of continuing nursing education with the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The estimated cost per delegate or guest is $5,995.00 USD which includes round-trip airfare from the domestic gateway city, group transportation, meeting and cultural activities, accommodations, most meals and all other costs associated with participation. A detailed itinerary can be found on the People to People website at http://www.peopletopeople.com/TravelExperience/Pages/Citizens-Thompson-Rudisill-2010.aspx. Registration for the program will remain open through February 2 via the People to People website at www.peopletopeople.com/citizenapply.
