Reverend Tom Keighley Receives AONE 2010

Chicago, IL (February 12, 2010) - Reverend Tom Keighley, FRCN, is the recipient of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) 2010 Honorary Member Award. This award recognizes a person who has made a noteworthy contribution to the health care field and to nursing leadership practice, and who has supported the mission of AONE through work, research or service to the health care community at large. Keighley will be honored at an award presentation during the AONE 43rd Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Ind. on April 10, 2010.
Keighley is an international speaker, renowned author and inspirational nurse leader whose primary interests include the politics of health care and the challenge of change. In 2001, he founded Tom Keighley Associates and began work as an independent health care consultant. Keighley’s skills have been sought by the Lincoln Theological Institute and a number of national health services organizations in England, as well as by organizations across Europe, North, Central, and South America, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Malawi and Singapore.
He was the first nurse to be invited to participate in the European Union Leadership Program and is credited with establishing the Institute of Nursing at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. He has been recognized with the Gran Cruz de ASCOFAME in Columbia and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Nursing for outstanding contributions to international development and the development of leadership in the nursing profession. He was also a speaker at the 2007 AONE Annual Meeting and Exhibition, presenting, “Expanding Europe: The Health Care Policy Implications in Europe and the United States.
Keighley served as the editor of the Journal of Nursing Management from 1996 to 2004 and has been a prolific writer of many books and articles. He lives in the Yorkshire Dales, England.
