AONE Institute Announces 2010 Seed Grant Recipients
Awardees Will Conduct Key Research on Nursing Leadership and Work Environment

Chicago, IL (February 26, 2010) —The AONE Institute, an activity of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and a 501(c)(3) unit of the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET), has announced the recipients of its 2010 Research Seed Grant Awards. The recipients were selected from grant proposals submitted by AONE members. The funding will facilitate research in the areas of nursing leadership development and work environment. The awards have been granted annually since 2003 and to date the AONE Institute has awarded a total of $158,675 in seed grant funds to members.

The recipients, to be honored during the AONE 43rd Annual Meeting and Exposition, April 9-13, 2010 in Indianapolis, IN, are:

Research project: Improving Patient Care through Understanding the Nursing Workplace

Lisa Rowen, DNSc, RN, FAAN, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD
Research project: The Effect of Leadership Development Interventions on Patient and Nurse Outcomes

Yolanda Keys, DHA, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Assistant Professor of Nursing and Health Sciences, Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, TX
Research project: Generation X Nurse Managers: Exploring Generational Challenges and the Next Cadre of Nurse Leaders

Only AONE members are eligible to apply for the Institute’s seed grant awards.  The Institute will begin accepting applications for 2011 awards in September 2010.
