Chicago, IL (Friday, January 13, 2012) —The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research and Education are pleased to announce the fifth class of AONE Nurse Manager Fellows. This group of outstanding nurse managers will begin their fellowship year with a five-day meeting January 15-20, 2012. A complete list of the 2012 AONE Nurse Manager Fellowship class is available at www.aone.org.

“We are delighted to welcome this new class of nurse managers,” said AONE CEO Pam Thompson, RN, MS, CENP, FAAN . “We look forward to continuing this effort to help nurse managers develop the skills and attributes they need to thrive and grow in their leadership responsibilities.”

The AONE Nurse Manager Fellowship is the first of its kind to focus on the education and development of the nurse manager. The year-long program is designed to meet the practice needs of the nurse manager and prepare the next generation of executive level nurse leaders. The fellowship will incorporate AONE’s work with the Nurse Manager Leadership Partnership (NMLP) and its development of the NMLP’s Learning Domain Framework. Fellows will complete an individual capstone project integrating skills learned through the program and benefiting the sponsoring organization.

The group will meet four times a year and distinguished nurse executives and nationally known nurse leaders will serve as faculty to teach sessions and work with the fellows to facilitate learning during the quarterly retreats.

Supported by the AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research and Education, the AONE Nurse Manager Fellowship is one of three AONE programs focusing on nurse manager development. Additional AONE offerings for nurse managers include the AONE Emerging Nurse Leader Institute (ENLI), AONE Nurse Manager Institute (NMI) and Essentials of Nurse Manager Orientation (ENMO), a collaborative effort between AONE and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).
