AONE 44th Annual Meeting and Exposition: April 13-16

Chicago, IL (March 14, 2011) —The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), the nation’s premiere organization for nurse leaders, will hold its 44th Annual Meeting and Exposition from April 13-16, 2011, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA. The Annual Meeting and Exposition brings together nearly 2,500 attendees who participate in plenary and concurrent sessions based on the latest research and thinking in contemporary issue areas that directly impact the nursing and health care communities.
Plenary session speakers at this year’s meeting include conductor and motivational speaker Roger Nierenberg, research expert Patricia Quigley, global health authority, Laurie Garrett, author, entrepreneur and organizational leadership expert Ori Brafman, health informatics expert and Congressional appointee Judy Murphy and artist and innovator, John Maeda, president of the Rhode Island School of Design.
Included as a hot topic, Linda Burnes Bolton, DrPH, RN, FAAN, will present findings from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academies’ report: “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health,” sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Burnes Bolton’s session, “The Future of Nursing: A Call to Action” will take place on Saturday, April 16 from 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. The IOM report examined the capacity of the nursing workforce to meet the demands of a reformed health care and public health system and will serve as an action-oriented blueprint for the future role of nursing.
Meeting attendees will also participate in educational sessions based on the latest thinking in a number of issue areas such as leadership in health care delivery, patient safety and quality, technology and health care reform. The conference also provides an opportunity to network with over 2,500 colleagues, earn continuing education credit, become credentialed and learn more about innovative products and services with industry partners in the exhibit hall.
