    The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) today released a new set of guiding principles for future care delivery based on the changing health care environment. Developed for chief nurse executives, the AONE Guiding Principles for Future Care Delivery can be used for assessing and planning patient care provision now and into the future. Using the new health care reform agenda as a driver, the 2010 AONE Future Patient Care Delivery Committee—consisting of chief nursing officers and directors from health care facilities across the U.S.—contributed to the guiding principles’ development.

    Laura Caramanica, RN, PhD, CENP, FACHE, has been elected president-elect of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). Caramanica currently serves as the executive director of the Institute for Nursing Excellence at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y., where she also held the position of senior vice president/chief nursing officer from 2007-2010.

  • AONE Launches New Foundation to Fulfill Previous Role of AONE Institute

    The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) is proud to announce the establishment of the AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research & Education (AONE Foundation), which will fulfill the previous role of the AONE Institute for Nursing Leadership Research & Education (AONE Institute). The AONE Institute was founded in 1999 and was conducted as an activity of the Health Research & Education Trust.  The AONE Foundation will continue supporting 501(c)(3) activities of AONE, including annual seed grants to fund nursing research projects in the areas of patient safety, workforce, work environment, evidence-based management practices, and leadership development, as well as the AONE Foundation Mentor Award, honoring a nurse in executive practice who has been exemplary in supporting the professional development of his/her colleagues.
