    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is monitoring 279 pregnant women in U.S. states and territories with laboratory evidence of possible Zika virus infection, the agency said.

  • VA proposes full scope of practice for APRNs

    The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) proposed this week to grant full practice authority to advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) when they are acting within the scope of their VA employment. The authority will allow APRNs to assess, diagnose, prescribe medications and interpret diagnostic tests. The VA said the rule would expand the pool of qualified health care professionals authorized to provide primary health care without the clinical supervision of a physician.
