    The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) today announced the recipients of its 2016 recognition awards, which highlight AONE members, an honorary member, and a state affiliate who demonstrated the “best of the best” in leadership practice, and whose work sets an example for every nurse leader. The recipients will be honored this week during the AONE’s Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas.

  • Study on preventable readmissions pinpoints communication, discharge readiness

    A new study of hospital readmissions estimates that 26.9 percent of them are potentially preventable. The research, published in the March 7 issue of JAMA Internal Medicine, said the common factors that contribute to preventative readmissions were premature discharge, emergency department decision making, inability to keep appointments after discharge and patient lack of awareness of whom to call after discharge.

The award honors an AONE member recognized by the nursing community as a significant leader in the nursing profession who has served AONE in an important leadership capacity. Sanford will be honored at an award presentation during the AONE’s Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas on March 31, 2016.
