CHICAGO (March 30, 2016) – The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) today announced Erik Martin, DNP, RN, CNML, is the recipient of the inaugural AONE Pamela Austin Thompson Early Careerist Award. The award recognizes an AONE or AONE Foundation program alumnus who exhibits significant potential as a future health care leader and demonstrates exemplary leadership within his or her organization, community and the nursing profession. The award is named for retiring AONE CEO Pamela Austin Thompson, who played a pivotal role in AONE’s development of leadership programs for emerging nurse leaders, all aimed at preparing the next generation of nurse leaders to meet future practice needs.

The award honors an AONE member recognized by the nursing community as a significant leader in the nursing profession who has served AONE in an important leadership capacity. Sanford will be honored at an award presentation during the AONE’s Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas on March 31, 2016.
