Nurses last month were ranked once more as the top profession in terms of honesty and ethical standards, according to a Gallup poll. Eight-five percent of survey respondents polled ranked nurses as high or very high in their degree of honesty and ethical standards. Nurses were followed by pharmacists (68 percent), medical doctors (67 percent), high school teachers (60 percent) and police officers (56 percent). The poll organization noted that nurses have topped Gallup's honesty and ethics ranking every year but one since they were added to the list in 1999. The exception is 2001, when firefighters were included on the list on a one-time basis, shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Gallup also noted that the 85 percent ties nurses' highest rating. The nationwide survey included 824 randomly selected adults. (Gallup news release, 12/21/15)
