The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action held a meeting this week in Washington, D.C., to discuss progress on the recommendations of 2010 report The Future of Nursing: Advancing Health, Leading Change.
An update to the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) landmark 2010 report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, has found significant progress over the past five years, such as expanding the authorized scope of practice for advanced practice nurses and increased enrollment in BSN programs. Improvements in the diversity of the nurse workforce, however, has made less progress, the IOM committee said.
The Academic Progression in Nursing (APIN) grant was awarded to the Tri-Council for Nursing in 2012 with the goal of assisting the state action coalitions in advancing the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommendation for a more highly educated workforce.
