    The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) membership elected Mary Beth Kingston, MSN, RN, executive vice president and CNO of Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, as the 2018 president-elect of the AONE Board of Directors. She will assume the presidency January 1, 2019, leading the national membership organization whose strategic focus is excellence in nursing leadership.

    The House this week approved two bills advocated by nursing organizations: the Title VII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act (HR 2713) and the Improving Access to Maternity Care Act (HR 1209). HR 2713 would reauthorize current federal nursing workforce programs by continuing support for nursing education at all levels, providing loan repayment and incentives for nurses who work in underserved areas or as faculty and providing support for nurses who care for the aging population.
