    The newly released AONE Salary and Compensation Study for Nurse Leaders reports job satisfaction is high among nurse leaders, with 62 percent stating they are very satisfied and another 29 percent responding they are somewhat satisfied. When asked why they choose to stay in their current job, the top response (44%) is “I find joy and meaning in my work.”

  • AONE Foundation announces 2013 grant recipients

    The AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research & Education (AONE Foundation), a 501(c)(3) supporting organization of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), has announced the recipients of its 2013 research seed grant awards and the Michael Warner Nurse Staffing and Outcomes Research Grant. The recipients were selected from grant proposals submitted by both AONE members and nonmembers. The recipients were honored during the AONE 46th Annual Meeting and Exposition, March 21-24, 2012 in Denver.

    Beatrice J. Kalisch, PhD, RN., FAAN,is the recipient of the AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research and Education’s 2013 Nurse Researcher Award. This award recognizes a nurse researcher who has made significant contributions to nursing research and is recognized by the broader nursing community as an outstanding nurse researcher. Dr. Kalisch will be honored at an award presentation during the AONE 46th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Denver on March 23, 2013, where she also will deliver the annual AONE Foundation Research Lecture, Missed Nursing Care: How Extensive is it, What are the Reasons for it and What Can We Do about it?

    Linda Knodel, MHA, MSN, NE-BC, CPHQ, FACHE, has been elected 2013 AONE president-elect of the AONE Board of Directors. Knodel currently serves as vice president/chief nursing officer at Mercy Health Springfield Communities in Springfield, MO. Selected through a nationwide voting process of AONE's 8,500 members, Knodel will serve as president-elect for a one-year term beginning January 1, 2013. She will become AONE president and serve a one-year term beginning January 1, 2014.

    On August 20, 2012, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced the nine states chosen to receive two-year, $300,000 grants to advance state and regional strategies to create a more highly educated, diverse nursing workforce through its new program, Academic Progression in Nursing (APIN).  The APIN program will be administered by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) on behalf of the Tri-Council for Nursing, consisting of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the National League for Nursing (NLN), American Nurses Association (ANA), and AONE.
