    This week, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) announced its new AONE Innovation in Technology Award during their 44th Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Diego, CA. Beginning in 2012, the award will be presented annually to an outstanding nurse leader who demonstrates innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in the implementation and adoption of technology in their organization.  The award will recognize pioneering approaches to working with the ever-increasing number of tools and resources designed to make patient care more efficient.  With a focus on application and not products, this award also aligns with AONE’s efforts to support the design, implementation and evaluation of future patient care delivery systems that effectively leverage technological resources.

    Donna E. Shalala, PhD, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), is the recipient of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) 2011 Honorary Member Award. This award recognizes a person who has made a noteworthy contribution to the health care field and to nursing leadership practice, and who has supported the mission of AONE through work, research or service to the health care community at large.     The AONE Institute, an activity of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and a 501(c)(3) unit of the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET), has announced the recipients of its 2010 Research Seed Grant Awards. The recipients were selected from grant proposals submitted by AONE members. The funding will facilitate research in the areas of nursing leadership development and work environment. The awards have been granted annually since 2003 and to date the AONE Institute has awarded a total of $158,675 in seed grant funds to members.
