This group of outstanding nurse managers will begin their fellowship year with a weeklong session January 13-18, 2013.

Linda Knodel, MHA, MSN, NE-BC, CPHQ, FACHE, has been elected 2013 AONE president-elect of the AONE Board of Directors. Knodel currently serves as vice president/chief nursing officer at Mercy Health Springfield Communities in Springfield, MO. Selected through a nationwide voting process of AONE's 8,500 members, Knodel will serve as president-elect for a one-year term beginning January 1, 2013. She will become AONE president and serve a one-year term beginning January 1, 2014.

On August 20, 2012, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced the nine states chosen to receive two-year, $300,000 grants to advance state and regional strategies to create a more highly educated, diverse nursing workforce through its new program, Academic Progression in Nursing (APIN). The APIN program will be administered by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) on behalf of the Tri-Council for Nursing, consisting of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the National League for Nursing (NLN), American Nurses Association (ANA), and AONE.

The American Organization of Nursing Executives (AONE) and the Arizona State University (ASU) College of Nursing and Health Innovation announce the formation of the Transdisciplinary Consortium for Innovation Leadership in Health Care. As their first official action, the consortium partners announce the launch of the first Fellowship in Innovation Leadership in Health Care, a 15-month program for senior health care leaders.

The Tri-Council for Nursing, consisting of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, National League for Nursing, American Nurses Association and the American Organization of Nurse Executives will lead a $4.3 million, Phase I two-year initiative, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), to advance state and regional strategies to create a more highly educated nursing workforce. An additional two years of work will be funded at the close of Phase I to allow states that have met or exceeded their benchmarks to continue to make progress.
