The AONE online communities facilitate the collaboration of best practices, encourage the sharing of knowledge and resources and help you discover solutions to day-to-day issues.

What is an "online community"?
An online community is an email communication that allows a member to send and receive public messages, questions and answers. It is an instant email community that will help you find answers and share knowledge. Each participant receives sent messages and has the option to reply to the message publicly or to the individual who initiated the message. Is it secure? You bet! An AONE staff member will moderate and approve every email, so there's no need to worry about inappropriate emails or pesky spammers.

Sample questions of Online Community messages
These questions are examples of the types of questions you're likely to see online:

  • How have you incorporated the AONE Nurse Manager Inventory into your staff development plans?
  • What new and innovative recruitment and retention strategies have you implemented in your organization?
  • How do the mandatory nurse staffing ratios impact your hospital?
  • Our organization is interested in best practices on moving our patient safety agenda forward thorough collaboration and partnerships. Is anyone willing to share a successful model?
  • How will the eight nurse sensitive performance measures for preventable inpatient complications impact nursing services for your hospital?

AONE Online Communities
The following online communities will be focused around the following primary topic areas:

Quality and Patient Safety
This online community speaks to the heart of nursing leadership: providing quality and safety at every level of patient contact. Every day, new research and best practices are emerging in the field. In this community, participants keep each other up-to-date with white papers, articles and many other invaluable resources.

Nurse Manager
AONE members are leaders. And as AONE continues to evolve, we know that nurse leaders will come in many different makes and models. From aspiring nurse leaders, new nurse managers, or seasoned wisdom workers, this online community is the perfect place to address a wide range of leadership topics.

Workforce Environment
Questions on healthful practice? Workforce supply competency? Nurse retention or staffing ratios? Then this online community is the place to share knowledge regarding your organization's workforce environment.

Future Patient Care Delivery
Sure, you've read and refer to the AONE Guiding Principles for Future Patient Care Delivery, but have you integrated the latest on technology, systems and organizational resources into your daily practice? This online community is the place to share information on technology, systems, diversity, nurse retention and models for patient care, as we move further into the 21st century.

Small/Rural and Critical Access Hospitals
Nurse leaders at small, rural and CAHs have specific needs and often feel isolated by their location. This Online Community serves as a meeting place for information sharing and brings together AONE members in these types of facilities. There is no need to feel alone – there are always other AONE members who are facing the same issue, and by signing up for this Online Community, you have the opportunity to connect with all of them.
